When added to the spray booth water, it acts on the excess sprayed paint (overspray) by deactivating it—that is, causing it to coagulate and preventing it from adhering to walls, pipes, and pumps. Its function is to aggregate the paint particles suspended in the water, which cause turbidity, transforming them into a soft sludge that is easily removable and no longer capable of forming deposits.
